Rosalind (“Roz”)
Lichter is a business lawyer specializing in entertainment
law, employment law and corporate transactions.
Her entertainment practice
involves all aspects of film, television, theater and
publishing. She has served as production counsel for films
distributed by both major and mini-major studios such
as Miramax, Sony Pictures Classics, Paramount and Warner
Bros. The firm has transacted hundreds of film-related
deals not only in New York, but also in Los Angeles, London,
Norway, Chile and Canada. Throughout twenty-five years
of legal experience, Ms. Lichter has structured mergers
and acquisitions for privately held companies; organized
financing for various film, television and theater productions;
and overseen investments for joint ventures and other
businesses unrelated to entertainment.
With respect to employment
law, Ms. Lichter has represented executives in many industries
including magazine publishing, fashion, securities, the
motion picture business, architecture and other privately
and publicly owned companies. This part of her practice
includes the negotiation of severance packages as well
as employment agreements for senior level executives.
In addition to her
full time practice, Ms. Lichter is an adjunct professor
at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she teaches
in the graduate and undergraduate film divisions. While
on the faculty at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law
of Yeshiva University from 1991 through 2005, Ms. Lichter
taught entertainment law. A former board member of New
York Women in Film and Television and The Creative Coalition,
Ms. Lichter also served as a Juror at the 2005 Tribeca
Film Festival. She is a graduate of Syracuse University,
was a fellow of the National Endowment of the Humanities
and received her Juris Doctorate degree from Benjamin
N. Cardozo School of Law of Yeshiva University. Currently,
Ms. Lichter is a member of the Association of the Bar
of the City of New York where she recently completed her
three-year term as Chair of the Entertainment Law Committee.
